Solstice work with both Pocket PC and Palm devices?

instead of Palm? |

Timbre Software chose the Pocket PC platform as the most powerful
and flexible option for both our application and our customers.
Some of the primary benefits of Pocket PC devices vs. Palm devices
include:
- Built in integration with Microsoft Office applications
such as Word, Excel, and Outlook for e-mail.
- Better multi-tasking - Unlike Palms, A Pocket PC can open
more than one application at a time, making it easier to
switch between applications.
- Better screens - Pocket PC screens are typically larger
and clearer than Palm screens. The latest Pocket PCs use
new transreflective TFT Screens. These can be transmissive
(back lit) and reflective (front lit) simultaneously, making
them easily viewable indoors and out.
- Built in web browser - Pocket PC's come standard with the
mobile version of Internet Explorer.
- Faster processor and more memory.
- Bigger variety of devices and device manufacturers.

Yes. You can install Solstice to either the Pocket PC main memory or to a removable memory card. |

QuickBooks |
| Do I need QuickBooks to use Solstice? |
| |
Yes. Solstice is not a stand-alone accounting package. While
it has been designed to work with any accounting system, the
Solstice Data Manager is currently configured to synchronize
only with QuickBooks. |

| What versions of QuickBooks will work with Solstice? |
| |
Solstice works with QuickBooks Pro and Premier (including Contractor
and Accountant) editions 2002 and later as well as QuickBooks
Enterprise Solutions. If you need to upgrade your version of
QuickBooks, you can purchase it through us at a discount. |

| Does Solstice work with the online edition of QuickBooks? |

No. Solstice does not work with the online edition of QuickBooks. |

| Does Solstice work with non-U.S. versions of QuickBooks? |

At this time, Solstice only works with U.S. and Canadian versions of QuickBooks. |

| Will Solstice work in a QuickBooks multi-user environment? |
| |
Yes. Solstice can synchronize with QuickBooks in both single-user
and multi-user modes. |

Synchronization |
| Does QuickBooks need to be running to synchronize
the handheld? |
| |
No, Solstice uses a two step synchronization process so that
you don't always need to have QuickBooks running in order to
synchronize the handheld. The handheld device synchronizes with
a Solstice database on the desktop. The QuickBooks
data file will then automatically be updated the next time the
company file is opened. |

| Does Solstice use ActiveSync® to synchronize
the handheld? |
| |
Not directly. Although ActiveSync helps establish the connection
between the desktop and handheld, Solstice uses it's own highly
robust synchronization process to ensure the integrity of your
data. |

| Is it possible to synchronize the handheld remotely? |
| |
Yes. Solstice uses IP addressing for the handheld synchronization
process. This means that you do not need to have the Pocket PC
"cradled" directly to the desktop computer in order to synchronize.
If the desktop computer has an "always on" connection to the
internet and has a fixed IP address, then the handheld can be
synchronized remotely via Wi-Fi or by cradling to any other computer
with an internet connection. |

| Can a handheld synchronization be initiated from
the desktop computer? |
| |
No, the handheld synchronization is always initiated from the
handheld device. You cannot "push" data from the desktop to the
handheld. |

| What are the differences between the two editions
of Solstice? |
| |
The Pro edition of Solstice includes both desktop and handheld
applications, while the Standard edition includes only the handheld

| Can I use multiple handheld devices with
Solstice? |
| |
Absolutely. You just need a separate license for each handheld. |
| |

| Can I use Solstice with multiple QuickBooks company
files? |
| |
Yes, you can synchronize multiple QuickBooks companies with
Solstice. Within Solstice, it's easy to switch back and forth
between your various companies. |

| Can I print from the Solstice handheld? |
| |
No. There are currently no capabilities for printing directly from the Solstice handheld application. |

Support |
| What are my support options? |
| |
We offer two levels of support to our customers. The Solstice
upgrade and support subscription provides
unlimited telephone and electronic support. When you purchase
Solstice, you automatically receive a 30 day subscription. After
30 days, if you have not purchased an annual subscription, then
support is only available via e-mail and our website knowledgebase. |

| How does the Solstice support and upgrade subscription
work? |

The Solstice subscription provides unlimited live and electronic
support as well as major and minor program upgrades for one year.

General |
| When I purchase Solstice, do I have to download the program or do I receive a CD? |
| |
You have the choice. When you purchase your initial Solstice license, you will be given the option to select how you want to receive Solstice. You can choose Download Only or choose to receive a CD for $15 extra. If you select the CD option, we will still provide the download information so that you can get started right away if you wish. |

| How does Solstice licensing work? |
| |
With the Standard Edition of Solstice, you will need to purchase a separate license for each handheld you wish to use. With Solstice Pro, the base license includes the desktop application and one handheld license. If you wish to use additional handheld devices, you will need to purchase a license for each additional handheld.
When you purchase Solstice, you will receive a single License Key and Serial Number. The number of handhelds you are licensed to use will be encoded in that License Key and Serial Number. If you later decide to purchase additional handheld licenses, we will issue you a new License Key and Serial Number for the total number of handhelds you are now licensed to use.
